Roosi @ Lichen: Sam Sundos (2023)

Head of Creative, Design, Art Direction, Curator

For the exhibition Let in Some Sky at Lichen NYC, we collaborated with Palestinian-American artist Sam Sundos to bring his vision into a new medium. Known for his paintings, drawings, and embroidered tapestries that explore self-discovery, duality, and human connection, Sam wanted to expand his practice into functional design. Together with Lichen, we created a collaborative dining table and set of stools that merged his reinterpretation of traditional Palestinian embroidery with our approach to making art through objects.

This project was about more than furniture — it was about creating space for community and storytelling. Sam’s work carries themes of hope, touch, and human value, and our role at roosi was to honor those ideas while translating them into a shared object people could gather around. The show also included framed embroideries and sold-out workshops led by Sam, making it both an exhibition and an invitation for others to engage in the process.

Lichen is a Ridgewood-based furniture store and community hub re-contextualizing secondhand design through collaboration and culture.
